The event includes performance, food, arts and crafts, and a ribbon dance workshop.
A group of middle school students from a performing arts class in Spoken Word Poetry created a presentation to tell the story of Dragon Boat through the modern American tradition of Spoken Word.
Crafts tables were also set up for children to experience the traditional Chinese art work like ink painting, paper cutting, lantern-making, and sachet-making. The 4th Grade students displayed their Qu Yuan work and the American poet, Langston Hughes, through PowerPoint.
This Dragon Boat event aligns with the CI’s mission to share the Chinese culture with the Jersey City school system and the community and presents a great opportunity for visitors to learn about the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival and participate in cultural activities.
