On May 10, 2017, the Confucius Institute at NJCU celebrated its Kites Festival and held a kite-making event at Learning Community Charter School. This festival deepens the mutual understanding of the Chinese and American culture and enables American students to appreciate the charm of Chinese kites. The event at LCCS includes a mini-lecture on kite’s history, kites painting, and kites making. During the activity, students showed great interest in the history and cultural significance of kites and they raised many kites-related questions. The Confucius Institute at NJCU hopes that through events such as the Kite Festival, they can help American students strengthen their understanding of Chinese culture and improve the influence of Confucius Institutes in the U.S.
